Position Profile

  • Development and Implementation of marketing strategy to successfully commercialise products and maximize sales throughout the product life cycle
  • Develop marketing plans in the region for current commercial products in the field of Haematology, Oncology and other specialised products in the Jazz portfolio.
  • Act as the regional product champion, ensuring alignment and quality implementation in all territories, provide guidance on best practice.
  • Support marketing activities such as KOL development, Advisory board meetings, peer to peer educational programs, local congresses and nurse education.
  • Work collaboratively and support field staff activity related to account planning, regional events and tactics
  • Support the market access strategy of our products by aligning strategy to support the payer customer group.
  • Develop a strong and robust relationship with all key affiliate Management staff to ensure internal optimisation of product strategy and first rate implementation.
Essential Functions
  • Implementation of marketing strategy
  • Implementation of product/franchise strategy to maximize revenues return throughout the product life cycle.
  • Obtain input from country management, marketing and medical teams, other functions, KOLs and other sources as necessary to validate and update strategy and plans.
  • Establish clear commercial priorities on indications and markets.
  • Identify new potential indications and line extensions, assess and prepare business plans and drive them through the organization as appropriate.
  • Formulate detailed 1-year, mid- and long-term marketing plans, including positioning and pricing strategies, sales forecasts, communication plan (publications, congresses, etc), opinion leader development, sales targets, etc.
  • Develop advocacy programmes to support the commercial objectives of the product.
Act as the product champion and leader
  • Effectively communicate and gain buy-in from country management, marketing and medical teams to ensure commitment and full alignment of strategy and resources.
  • Ensure commercial alignment (in strategy, product forecasts, commercial execution, clinical trials, etc) with global commercial objectives as well as across the Eu ROW region
  • Adapt plans to the local needs as appropriate to ensure Canadian and country-specific revenues are maximised.
  • In conjunction with Medical Affairs, assess and provide guidance for local clinical studies to ensure they are in line with marketing focus and have commercial relevance.
  • Ensure plans to support the product from other functions (e.g. clinical, regulatory, etc) are aligned with commercial objectives through regular communication with them.
  • Identify strategic issues, devise programmes to address them and supervise their implementation.
  • Represent European product interests in global commercial and cross-functional teams as needed.
  • Ensure all promotional materials are reviewed and approved in accordance with Jazz Pharma standard operating procedures.
  • Anticipate future trends in market dynamics, competitor strategies, therapeutic approaches and customer needs and adapt strategies and plans accordingly.
  • Maintain up-to-date expertise and knowledge in product area under responsibility by obtaining regular feed-back from countries, KOLs and from market research and other business intelligence sources.
  • Operate within agreed budgets ensuring optimal investment of promotional resources.
  • Build Jazz Pharma reputation as a credible player in product area under responsibility across Canada
  • Drive execution of marketing plan activities following principles of marketing excellence to achieve a professional and credible image for the business.
  • Ensure communication alignment
  • Ensure credibility and professionalism in all product communication activities and materials.
  • Build collaborative relationships with key opinion leaders and relevant medical societies that are particularly influential within product area under responsibility.
  • Build collaborative relationships with the affiliate countries and other functions
  • Promote the exchange of information and ideas with all affiliate teams
  • Work closely with other functions (eg. Clinical, Regulatory, Medical Affairs, Supply Chain, etc) and build co-operative and supporting working environment.
  • Work closely with local country management and each country’s sales and marketing teams to build relationships, trust and two-way communication
  • Development of regional marketing strategy and plans
  • Responsibility for the product strategy in Canada to ensure achievement of business objectives
  • Lead development and implementation of strategic and operational plans to optimise product performance and market opportunities
  • Obtain input from local teams, other functions and partners, KOLs and other sources as necessary to validate and update strategy and plans.
  • Develop advocacy programmes to support the educational and commercial objectives of the product.
  • Monitor the implementation of the product plan to ensue execution is both efficient and effective and provide corrective solutions where necessary to maintain or exceed plan
  • Anticipate future trends in market dynamics, competitor strategies, therapeutic approaches and customer needs and adapt strategies and plans accordingly.
  • Manage agencies and contractors effectively to ensure high quality outputs and value for money
Financial management
  • Operate within agreed budgets ensuring optimal investment of promotional resources.
  • Monitors and analyses the impact of activities within the promotional mix in order to maximise effectiveness
  • Deliver effective financial planning and control in the preparation and execution of the annual plan.
  • Work with the finance team to ensure that planned expense estimates are accurate and regularly updated to reflect deviations from plan

Non-financial: People Interfaces (customers/staff)
  • Collaborate and work closely with key account staff to support key account planning, execution and product/disease knoweldge
  • Build strong relationships with key customers and customer groups
  • Work with the International and local management teams to optimise the product marketing plan
  • Work with the Medical Department, including Regulatory Affairs and Medical Information to ensure ethical promotion and optimal market access
  • Provide effective product leadership for appropriate staff

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Demonstrates strong leadership skills and has the ability to motivate and enthuse others
  • Understands how to develop, and align marketing and promotional strategies
  • Ability to drive projects forward work on own initiative and work as part of a cross-functional team
  • Excellent problem solving and decision making skills to identify, understand and propose plans to address business issues and opportunities
  • Strong project management skills to meet deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written interpersonal/ communication skills to interact with customers and colleagues
  • Required/Preferred Education and Licenses
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent (Life Science preferred)
  • Pharmaceutical sales experience
  • 5 years specialty pharmaceutical marketing experience essential
  • Excellent IT skills - familiar with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Highly motivated, enthusiastic and inspirational
  • Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to influence and generate commitment from others without direct authority
  • Strong analytical, strategic and planning skills
